Country Wedding Photography : Brianna & Mike
Elvis was "in the building" for Brianna and Mike's country wedding in Carp
If I had one regret after shooting this country wedding at Mike's family home in Carp, just outside Ottawa, it would be that I didn't start earlier and stay longer. Mike and Brianna's wedding will definitely be a highlight of my 2018 wedding photography year and it's not even over. Similar to Justin and Danielle's "Tent-in" wedding near Perth, Mike and Brianna invited family and friends to stay the weekend with them as they celebrated. Although Elvis had previously wed them in a Las Vegas chapel, Brianna and Mike wanted to do something special with friends and family and Mike's childhood home on a sprawling, tree-lined estate in Carp was the perfect spot to host it. Surrounded by her close girlfriends and sister, Brianna got ready in the historic home while her amazing bridesmaids kept things light and fun and full of energy. A dab of fine Tequila followed a champagne toast while Mike was downstairs making alterations to his belt with power tools - apparently, Mike had dropped a few pounds since the Las Vegas wedding and needed to tighten the belt a bit. However, it was one of Brianna's Dads who almost stole the show as he dressed up as Elvis to walk his daughter down the isle. I was in the right place at the right time to nail the dipping first-kiss photo - now THAT is a first kiss! Fun and games were had by all before the reception, catered by Meatings, was kicked off by a customized rendition of "That's Amore" by Brianna and Mike. In fact, instead of speeches throughout the night, Brianna and Mike hosted a talent show with friends and family singing songs, reciting poems, speed-painting and even rapping. In keeping with the Las Vegas theme, a fun mock-casino entertained guests throughout the night. In closing Mike and Brianna's wedding had all the qualities that I look for in a couple and event: people who aren't afraid to be themselves, lots of love, lots of energy and lots of fun. Enjoy.
